If the In-Laws are Monsters…..

…then the marriage will never work!?   True or False?

This was the discussion at an early morning Pilates Reformer class this morning.  A 27 year old woman said that because the instructors ex-BF’s mother was very opinionated and controlling over their wedding plans, that a marriage would never had worked….of course, I had to add my two-cents. 🙂

The marriage absolutely can work.  BUT, only, and I emphasize ONLY, if the husband takes the side of his bride at every difficult turn AND has the talk with his Mother.

The couple must also be prepared for the parents to rebel and disassociate with them, or the couple may need to do the disassociation.  The couple has to make each other their priority, or the marriage will not survive a happy and well balanced  marriage.

You’re coupling for companionship and strength in this world, and having each others back is essential.
